Angela Alvarado, CPT, CES, RYT-200 Certified Yoga Instructor

Health Coach and Certified Yoga Instructor

Angela Alvarado, CPT, CES, RYT-200 is a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She has over ten years of experience specializing in weight and stress management, muscle re-education, and sports injury prevention.

As an RYT-200 Yoga Instructor, Angela is dedicated to the lifelong study and practice of Yoga and Ayurveda sharing the wealth of her knowledge and experiences with her students. Through a consistent practice of pranayama and a vegan diet, she overcame her battle with allergies and other ailments leading her to trust in both yoga and proper nutrition as alternative medicine and a lifestyle.

As a previous member of the University of Miami Mind-Body Medical Group, Angela worked alongside Dr. David J. Lee, Ph.D., director of Graduate Programs in Public Health, and Dr. Ashwin Mehta, Ph.D., director of the Integrative Medicine Program at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, reviewing extensive research and discussing benefits on the health-promoting aspects of mindfulness practices such as Yoga, Nutrition, Tai-Chi, and Qi-gong. She was dedicated to bringing optimum health and mindfulness practices to ALL patients of UMH and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center by offering Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation.

Through the aid of a grant from the National Parkinson Foundation, Angela worked jointly with the University of Miami offering an Indoor Cycling program for patients with Parkinson’s. This medical study was designed to decrease symptoms and lead to a better quality of life for those afflicted with the degenerative neurological disorder.

With great enthusiasm, she has helped many of her clients struggling with obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes to lose weight and develop healthier habits. She has also worked closely with those who suffer from depression, rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, scoliosis, breast cancer, and post-traumatic stress disorder to name a few.

Most recently, Angela took on great responsibilities with the YMCA of Greater Miami and YMCA of San Francisco, a Non-Profit Organization. She and her team focused on building health opportunities for local communities, by fundraising and stretching their donations to benefit all members. Angela will say the YMCA has demonstrated loyalty and commitment to its mission statement; “We are committed to improving our community’s health and well-being and we believe no one should be turned away due to the inability to pay.”

Currently, Angela has collaborated with the city of San Francisco MTA system to provide corrective exercise and injury prevention methods specifically designed for bus operators, mechanics, and all SFMTA staff. With great pleasure, she has also engaged deeply with this community helping them understand healthy habits, lowering blood pressure, making habitual lifestyle modifications, and developing a plan that works for each individual in their own unique way.

For fun, she enjoys connecting with nature, paddle boarding, dancing, traveling, and tasting different ethnic food.

Make sure to follow her on InstagramFacebookPinterest, and Twitter for daily inspirational quotes, exercise videos, cool recipes, yoga, and meditation.
