Berry Green Chia Pudding (Vitamin C infused)

Berry Green Chia Pudding (Infused with Camu Camu)

We all know snacks in between meals are important in the process of losing weight and keeping energy levels up throughout the day. But what essentially could be a healthy snack without the sugar content and list of ingredients in each container you buy at the grocery store? Well, by now we should all know that anything and everything raw and organic from the earth is essentially healthy and safe to consume.

This smoothie is infused with Vitamin C because of the Camu Camu powder which boosts your immune system. As a vegan I tend to use Spirulina a lot since it is high in antioxidant enzymes and high in Vitamin A (Beta Carotene.) You might also be wondering where I get my protein and calcium from. Well, Chia seeds are one of the best super foods out in the market that provide nutrients such as Omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, calcium, protein and antioxidants. Need I say anymore? Happy and healthy snacking to you!

Nutty Vital Granola Bowl

I got a little experimental the other morning with everything I had in my kitchen. I was in the mood for something vey powerful to lift my spirits up and here is what I came up with. A sweet breakfast bowl which you can enjoy before starting your day or even as dessert after a healthy meal… It’s flax/chia mix adds high fiber to your diet allowing for healthy bowel movements, while the cinnamon will help to balance out your blood pressure. The 1/4 tsp. of Camu Camu will boost your immune system with a good dose of Vitamin C, while Diatomaceous Earth  serves as a natural organic colon cleanser and detoxifier. Blueberries, of course are high antioxidants which also strengthen your immune system helping you fight disease. And who doesn’t love bananas with their cereal? Bananas are high in potassium (a type of electrolytes) which help minimize your chances of heart disease and it is also necessary for your heart, kidneys and organs to function properly. Sometimes, I wish your doctor could say and recommend the same things. But I’m no doctor, I just live a healthy lifestyle. Hope you enjoy this one because I sure did. By the way, I used my Nutribullet long cup for this mixture. Feel free to use any blender or get a Nutribullet on sale through Amazon Prime.

Almond Berry-Mix Smoothie with Greens

Almond Berry-Mix Smoothie with Greens

Yesterday, during my bus ride back home from the city I sat next to a lady who happened to be coughing and blowing her nose. She was overweight and obviously a bit under the weather. At first, I didn’t worry much about her cough because I take very good care of my health eating fruits and veggies on a daily basis.  After a few minutes sitting beside her, I begin to worry because she continues to cough non-stop.  I offered her a napkin so that she would cover her mouth instead of turning her head and continue to cough with her mouth open.  She seemed very insulted replying with an attitude and not taking my napkin.  I wish I could have approached her a different way and have had an opportunity to give her some advice to help boost her immune system.  The only thing I could do at that moment was close my eyes and think “Antioxidants, Antioxidants, Antioxidants!” to keep me from catching a cold.  But then again I felt certain that based on my health I did not need to worry. Anyhow, this morning I woke up to these words yelling in my head “Berries, Antioxidants, Berries, Immune Booster”. I could have gone with my day ignoring these words in my head but I chose to run to the market and grab me some berries. Luckily, berries were each on sale for $2.39 except for the red raspberries which were sold out, so I had to get a case of organic raspberries for $4.99. Continue reading
