Green Powerhouse Cleanse Juice

I thought of making this juice to cleanse my body from so much eating out lately. Even though most mornings I am able to prepare an organic juice or a healthy fruit salad, sometimes (at least once a week) I like to juice to cleanse my kidneys, liver and colon by consuming ample fiber, fruits and veggies. So, today I chose to first juice the cucumbers with my juicer to use as base for my smoothie. Continue reading

Heart Rate Monitors to aid in Weight Loss

When approaching a weight loss program, it is very important that you understand your heart rate training zones in order to train properly for accurate results. A Heart Rate Monitor will keep you in a safe yet effective training regimen based on your fitness level and goals. Heart Rate (HR) zone training is also a systematic method of improving your cardiovascular system. Basically, there are two ways to determine your proper training zones. One of the most common ways to estimate your training zones is by using this simple formula: (220 – your age). This method does not take into account your fitness level or genetic background, which can make your true maximum heart rate 10 to 20 beats per minute higher or lower than the age-predicted number.

This formula will determine an average Maximum Heart Rate which will indicate the most challenging training zone for your age. Continue reading

Nutrients in Earthly Foods and Weight Management Tips

The best way to lose and/or maintain weight is by eating vegetables because they contain ample amount of fiber and water and are low in calories. They are also rich in minerals, antioxidants, and phytochemicals, which are very helpful for maintaining and improving your health.

Broccoli: Broccoli has no fat and is made up of 60 percent carbohydrates, and 40 percent proteins, with lots of water, minerals, and vitamins. Carbohydrates in broccoli are quite complex, requiring time to digest. These carbs are slow-releasing, so you will have long hours of energy available after each meal. Prominent minerals and vitamins in this vegetable include vitamin E, thiamin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorous, and selenium. Continue reading

Nutty Vital Granola Bowl

I got a little experimental the other morning with everything I had in my kitchen. I was in the mood for something vey powerful to lift my spirits up and here is what I came up with. A sweet breakfast bowl which you can enjoy before starting your day or even as dessert after a healthy meal… It’s flax/chia mix adds high fiber to your diet allowing for healthy bowel movements, while the cinnamon will help to balance out your blood pressure. The 1/4 tsp. of Camu Camu will boost your immune system with a good dose of Vitamin C, while Diatomaceous Earth  serves as a natural organic colon cleanser and detoxifier. Blueberries, of course are high antioxidants which also strengthen your immune system helping you fight disease. And who doesn’t love bananas with their cereal? Bananas are high in potassium (a type of electrolytes) which help minimize your chances of heart disease and it is also necessary for your heart, kidneys and organs to function properly. Sometimes, I wish your doctor could say and recommend the same things. But I’m no doctor, I just live a healthy lifestyle. Hope you enjoy this one because I sure did. By the way, I used my Nutribullet long cup for this mixture. Feel free to use any blender or get a Nutribullet on sale through Amazon Prime.
